A brave choice that someone who was in my life could have benefited from. May her memory be a blessing.

Oh, Jim, this is beautiful! And such an accurate description of Lorrie. I have been telling people my sister-in-law died, but that she was so much more than a sister-in-law. My own mother-in-law avoided the term and confused people by introducing me as her daughter(She already had two, so who is this interloper?) or often as her daughter-in-love. (Corny, but accurate.) I feel the same about other in-laws. Let's practice using new terms.

Thank you, Jan. Now, I don’t want to use the term at all. Since I don’t have any natural sisters, it feels okay to just say “sister” about Jane, Cathy and Rose. And Dave is Dave. And you are my Aunt Jan.

So beautifully written Jimo. Your words capture the very essence of Lorrie and the profound strength of the Vander Ark legacy. May her memory always be for a blessing. Hugs 😘
